8F Pump for a Sand Washing Plant

Project Background

A regional sand washing operation producing fine washed sand for the construction sector was running a    pump that was visibly under-sized for the production volume — flow was being throttled to keep the    unit within its stable operating window.

Operating Duty

• Pump size: 8F sand & gravel pump

• Flow: around 350–450 m³/h in normal operation

• Head: 25–30 m

• Solids: silica sand, mostly below 4 mm, with some fine fractions

• Continuous operation, single 10-hour shift, six days a week

Matec Solution

We supplied an 8F sand & gravel pump together with a spare set of wet-end parts. The larger passage    of the gravel-family pump was a deliberate choice — the circuit occasionally carries coarser stones,    and a standard horizontal pump would have needed frequent manual clearing. Metallic wear parts were    chosen to keep the option open for occasional coarser feed without a second pump.

Result

The plant was able to run closer to its full designed production rate after installation, with fewer    manual interventions. The pump continues to be supplied against routine wear-part orders.
