Application | Copper concentration — large pump optimization | Pump | 650 horizontal slurry pump
650 Pump Optimization for a Copper Concentration Line
Project Background
A large 650-class pump feeding a copper concentration line was consuming wear parts at a rate that placed steady pressure on the maintenance budget. The installed pump itself was sound; the issue was the combination of part grade, operating point and the actual slurry it was seeing.
Review & Supply
Re-evaluated the liner material grade and impeller profile against the real operating duty rather than the original nameplate
Specified a high-chrome wet-end set for the most abrasive part of the curve
Recommended running the unit nearer its stable window where the process allowed, within the existing installation
Delivered a complete wet-end set plus a spare impeller so the first service could be completed without a second order
Result
Over the following operating period the maintenance team recorded longer intervals between impeller changes on the 650 pump, and the parts cost per tonne processed came down. The optimized set is now the site's standard repeat order for that pump.
