MHPP-14TU for High-Pressure Tailings Disposal

Project Background

A site needed to move tailings to a disposal area located some distance away, through a pipeline that    demanded elevated head. Combined high head and high abrasion is one of the harder duties for a slurry    pump — standard configurations tend to show short seal life and rapid impeller wear.

Operating Duty

• Pump size: MHPP-14TU configured for high-pressure duty

• Flow: approximately 600–800 m³/h

• Head: high enough to hold pipeline pressure across the full disposal distance

• Solids: tailings with a coarse abrasive fraction

Matec Solution

We configured the MHPP-14TU with heavy-section wet-end parts, a staged seal arrangement suited to the    pressure, and a matched bearing assembly. A complete wet-end set and a duty-sized spare impeller were    supplied together so the site could complete its first service without waiting on a second shipment.

Result

Pipeline pressure stayed stable through the disposal cycle and unplanned stops from seal or impeller    issues reduced compared with the previous setup. The pump is now held on a scheduled wear-part    replacement plan.
