The expeller uses centrifugal force to create a pressure barrier, reducing the slurry pressure reaching the gland. The expeller ring maintains the running clearance. Together they cut gland water use and packing consumption.
Not all "high-chrome" is equivalent. Some suppliers use ~15% Cr cast iron and label it as A05-equivalent to cut cost. Matec A05 high-chrome iron is formulated to the Cr27 class, matching the abrasion resistance expected in severe slurry duties. If a quote looks unusually low, ask for the material certificate and Cr content.
Expellers are dynamically balanced and checked for vane profile. Hardness and dimensional inspection reports are supplied on request.
